There’s Something Wrong With a Country That Lets George Zimmerman Have a Gun- Opinion 2

The writer decides to choose her very specific word choice in red. The words in red are mostly talking about how woman instead of people are affected by men. She started to go on saying that men with guns are more likely to abuse their partner due to the “loss of their manhood”. After the arguments of men with guns, she goes to back to the topic of Zimmerman with his past run-in with the law. The writer
then expresses her opinion on gun violence saying that other countries that have banned it (aka Great Britain) saying it lowered murder rates even though they’ve increased in the country.

Tesla Article

The difference between the two articles from CNN and the Chicago Tribune is that the CNN article is an opinion piece while the Chicago tribune states facts and is a report. The article from CNN begins on how ConsumerReport.com gave Tesla Model S a consumer report of 99/100. He begins to precede the argument how there are not many charging stations in the US. Within the middle of the article, he talks about the price of the average new combustible gas sedan was around $30,000 while the Tesla Model S was at a price of $89,000. The Chicago tribune article is a report on the Tesla fires that have been reported. The writer brings up how that there many fires mostly from combustion cars while only 4 have been reported from electric cars. Within this report, He talks about that every fire would originate from a collision within a month ago. The fires would start with high speeds on the highway, the car would alert the drivers that they should pull over due to a battery failure but the drivers would be to ignorant to do so. Tesla responded with the fires by recalling all the batteries that were known to catch on fire and gave every Tesla owner a free replacement. He goes on saying how the Tesla Model S is a great car and how he loved the response Tesla gave when they found out the fires that have started in their car.

Gun Control Laws Wouldn’t Stop Senseless Shootings – They Would Cause More Option 1

The writer uses common sense when pointing out this point in the debate about gun control “The problem isn’t guns, it is people. There will always be evil people, and there will always be irresponsible people” This sentence from the article is a very valid point within the Gun Control debate. Blaming an inanimate object for a human beings decision is absurd. It is the deranged person that commits the crime and not the weapons. Why not ban cars for the deaths of drunk driving accidents for an example.

The writer does not bring facts into this argument which does not help bring up the case that violent television or video games are the cause(s) for shootings. “In the modern era, parents are permissively and lazily allowing their children to play unlimited violent video games and watch unlimited violent television” This point is not so convincing. Many people watch violent movies and others play violent video games yet they do not go on a killing spree. The creators would not want/cause people to do such a thing.

What many people would believe wont work with arming teachers actually helped in the Pearl High School shooting when the armed principal grabbed a colt .45 out of his truck to stop the shooter. ” the best way to reduce these tragic shootings is to arm teachers or ensure that an armed school resource officer is nearby” This view is one that has been brought up around numerous debates. I believe this should be enforced and have a trained teacher/ faculty member that is able to use a firearm.

Banning guns won’t stop violence” Another convincing point within the article. The writer gets on how bombs are illegal, yet terrorists ,such as the Tsarnaev brothers, still make them to create pain and chaos to others. Other weapons like knives are legal but a Houston student went around and stabbed 4 people, killing one.

Bringing up a study shows the facts that help prove the writers argument within the debate that guns do stop violence instead of just create it. “A recent Harvard study found that countries with higher gun ownership often had lower murder rates” This statistics will help the writer of the article get their point across while showing facts from a study.

Blog 3

Government shutdown

The two articles differ each other. The LA times article is a report on how both the republicans and democrats are not working together to re-open the government to start paying the workers. The Maddowblog.com is an opinion piece from left wing blogger blaming the republicans for the shut down saying that this shutdown that is not paying the veterans and government workers is all their fault.

The LA times article introduction begins to sum up why the government was leading up to the shut down. The tone of the blog is a non-bias and it brings detail why it is both party’s fault and not just pointing fingers blaming one party like the Maddowblog.

The Maddow Blog introduction begins blaming Rep. Mark Meadows talking about he created a letter endorsed by 80 House Republicans to begin the shut down. As the blog goes on, The tone tends to get more and more biased saying explaining how the republicans have no idea what to do in this shutdown and how they wont come to A CR. The attention to detail only picks and chooses about the Republicans flaws and how its their fault on why veterans, soldiers, and government workers.

Get knocked down but get up again

What I liked about this article is how the builder of the car never stops even though his car is stolen and a few parts are taken. Yoon Saechao’s civic build was going smoothly until an officer told him his car was stolen and that it was stripped in a towing yard. The towing company tries to keep his car by saying it was stripped when only a few non-important parts are taken. When he got the car back from the towing company he took out the engine for the new and better b16A VTEC engine. The car looks great from what its past was and based on the performance runs like a champion. When I’m older, I want to build a car as well and this article shows me how to never give up and keep pushing forward to finish a build even when the hardest obstacles you will come across.
